Helping Injured Wildlife in Washtenaw County, MI
Rescue. Rehab. Release.

The public are our rescuers, the finders of the orphaned and injured wildlife we take in.
From the start of accepting animals for rehabilitation, we recognized the community's essential role in wildlife rehab. They discover the animal in need and then they stop what they are doing to find help for it. They are heroes.
We advise on how to safeguard the animal until they can get to a rehabber. When we cannot take it in, we assist the public in finding a rehabber who can. We try to use the opportunity to educate the public on how to coexist with urban wildlife by offering strategies on how to prevent and/or address conflicts that come up.
Friends of Wildlife is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to the care of orphaned and injured Michigan wildlife. Our rehabbers are licensed by the DNR to rehab small mammals, and our goal is to rehabilitate them so that they can return to their natural habitat.
In addition to wildlife rehabilitation, we share best practices with the public on how to coexist with wildlife, and ways to reduce urban wildlife conflicts.
Friends of Wildlife rehabbers practice the standards set forth by the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association and the International Wildlife Rehabilitators Council. FOW Rehabbers are also members of the Michigan Association of Wildlife Rehabilitation.
